For a long time, spirituality and religion has been viewed in a one-dimensional way. For a truth, it is a relationship between a higher and a lower power: God and man. Unfortunately, this relationship is in words but not in action. A relationship is one that both parties benefit from relating to each other. However, when it comes to this particular relationship, it seems one person is always giving and the other has a mindset of being a constant recipient.
Christianity over the years have fallen far from what it was intended to be. The original intent of God is to have Christ like people, a father and son relationship as opposed to a religion where people are always selfish chasing after their personal needs and becoming church goers thinking they are Christians. God created you to be a son or a daughter, caring about his agenda on earth and making sure his will for earth is fulfilled. By virtue of this, you open up yourself to benefit from him as your father. This is not to say that your relationship with God is transactional where you have to do something before you get something from him.
God is first a father before anything else. Just like your earthly fathers are responsible and obligated to take care of you, God does same and more. But you can agree with me that this obligation by your earthly father was quite pronounce when you were a child. As you grew up, the obligation declined and at a point, reversed so that you can also be of benefit to your father. Despite this knowledge, it’s heartbreaking that Christians have set out to constantly be children who only know how to take from their father. At this point, I have a very crucial question; HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE YOU DEDICATED YOUR LIFE TO GOD AND MADE HIM YOUR FATHER AND SOURCE?
After answering this question, I want you to go back in your mind’s eye and reflect on the days and years and ask yourself how much you have benefitted from God.
For years, God has been there for you. Even in times where you didn’t acknowledge him, he was still a father to you. Now that you have come into his light and acknowledged all his blessings in your life, can’t you do something nice for him. Have you ever sat and pondered over the fact that God has a need in his heart that he is seeking people to fulfill on earth? Don’t you think you need a reformation mindset toward God and the things of God? Will it be a horrible thing that for once, your passion and priorities are redirected towards fulfilling a need on the heart of God than your personal needs?
The bible says seek first the kingdom of God and all other things will be added unto you. By age 12, Jesus was up and about his father’s business. If you are truly a Christian, following in the footsteps of Christ then you need to find a need on the heart of God and work it with all your might. The mindset shouldn’t be that you are doing it for God to do something for you but rather you want to put a smile on the face of a special one, your father God whom you love so much. Once the desire is implanted, God will be your help. He will give you the wisdom and intelligence to know who to talk to, what to do to get the resources for fulfilling that need and with commitment and consistency, you will make God proud. Think about, develop the desire and mindset for it, and work it to pleasure God.
May God be your help as you develop the reformation mindset to propel the agenda of God on earth.
